Perthshire's Autumn Colours - The Perfect Photography Backdrop
Perthshire is a photographer’s paradise in autumn. Trees, lochs and mountain views all add up to something very special. I visited last weekend and the colours were just on the cusp of their most intense. Sunrise brought out all the vivid hues of orange and gold and the mist slowly rising from the loch made it all the more magical. This area offers an incredible backdrop for photography - whether for outdoor brands, local businesses or holiday accommodation - and this is the perfect season for it.
Best Locations for photography - Perthshire
There are so may wonderful locations to explore in Perthshire. My favourites include The Hermitage , Straloch Estate, Loch Faskally, River Tummell, Black Rock Viewpoint and the Queen’s View. This is by no means an exhaustive list. There’s plenty more areas and I’d recommend Walk Highlands for some local walks and capturing images as you go.
Before heading out, I check local forecasts, cloud cover and wind speeds. I tend to find that first thing is best for reflections. The scene can change quite dramatically with sunrise creating more opportunities for a variety of images. Sunrise and sunset are my favourite times to explore - the low golden light of the sun (especially at this time of year) creates a warmth and gentle illuminating light.
For these images, I used a tripod and set a timer to avoid camera shake - it ensures sharpness in the image. I love to include water and reflections in my images - it adds to the sense of peace and tranquility.
